What we do

We aim to explore and promote the core principals behind  traditional Japanese martial arts, (also known as Kobudo), by practising various weapons and hand-to-hand techniques. These principals and techniques are an evolving science that have been passed down from teacher to pupil over hundreds of years. As practitioners, we seek to experience and interoperate these methods of movement for a deeper understanding.

These principals, include; basic evasive movements, provoking responses through the use of distance & timing and employing peripheral vision to detect the subtle, physical signals, given off by an attacking opponent.

 

How we do it

Our methodology is based on core skills training via a series of hand-to-hand and weapons drills (or kata) that teach body awareness, balance and movement. These core training principles are broken down as follows:
